SOUTH BEND, IN. – In a physical, back-and-forth opener, the LaVille JV basketball team dropped a 47-46 decision to South Bend Career Academy. The game was played at South Bend Success Academy.
After trailing 15-8 to close the first quarter, the Lancers outscored the Trailblazers 27-19 to take a 35-34 lead entering the final period.
The game continued back-and-forth in the final stanza before SBCA scored to take a 47-44 lead. Following a LaVille timeout, Alec Coleman took the ball on the left wing and drove the lane for a bucket as time expired.
Will Holmes led LHS with 13 points, while Tyler Dennig came off the bench to add 11 points.
Coleman added nine points. Belknap led the Lancers with nine rebounds, Coleman added five steals, and Dawson Beam three assists.
