NORTH JUDSON, IN. – The junior varsity girl’s basketball team traveled to North Judson-San Pierre for a Hoosier North Athletic Conference game Tuesday.
The two HNAC rivals battled back and forth throughout before a 3-pointer by Lauren Edison brought the Lancers to within two with fewer than 30 seconds to play in regulation.
On the next possession, LaVille fouled NJSP to force a one-and-the-bonus free throw. The Blue Jays missed the front end and Faith Rock rebounded for the Lakeville guests.
LaVille worked the ball around in the offense and got the ball inside to Rock for the game-tying attempt. Rock’s shot rimmed out as the horn sounded for a disappointing 39-37 loss.
Rock led LaVille with a double-double. She hit for 15 points and hauled down 17 rebounds. Edison hit three 3-point field goals and a free throw for 10 points Rebekah Beehler added seven rebounds and Kylie Gorka six boards. Quincy Blodgett picked up five steals and added three assists.
The JV record moves to 10-5 overall. The Lancers will travel to Knox on Thursday, January 16, for an HNAC girl-boy doubleheader. The JV girl’s game will tip at 6 p.m., with the JV boys to follow.
