The Lancers wrestling team travelled to Penn High School Saturday to compete at Regionals and advance to the next stage of the Indiana Individual State Wrestling tournament. Seven Lancers competed at the Regional: Conner Deason at 120, Mason Stepp at 145, Matt Brown at 152, Paul DeWitt at 170, Caleb Tolbert at 182, Alex McFadden at 195 as an alternate, and Tyler Studon at 285. In order to move on to Semi-State, the wrestlers had to win their first match of the day or they would be eliminated from the tournament. Conner Deason lost in a tough match by decision 6-9, and Matt Brown also lost a very close match by decision 6-7. Mason Stepp, Alex McFadden, and Tyler Studon lost their matches to begin the day by pin to individuals who later on would be crowned Regional Champions, while Paul DeWitt lost his first round match by pin to the runner-up of the Regional tournament. Caleb Tolbert was able to secure a win in the first round at Regionals winning by decision 10-4 and advancing to the Semi-State tournament at East Chicago on February 15th. Tolbert wrestled two more matches at the Regional tournament and finished the day in 4th place. Congratulations to Caleb Tolbert on advancing to Semi-State!
