school news · IMPORTANT UPDATE From Superintendent Mawhorter

November 9, 2020

Dear Lancer Families,

I regret to inform you that LaVille Jr. Sr. High School will be moving to Stage 3, Virtual Learning, starting tomorrow morning, Tuesday, November 10th.  We are making this decision in consultation with the Health Department after seeing the rise from both students and staff who have either become positive for the virus or a close contact to positive people.  Our plan as of this writing is to return to Stage 1, In-Person Learning, on Monday, November 30th.  The Elementary will continue to be in Stage 1, In-Person Learning.

The Jr. Sr. High will continue with breakfast and lunches during this time.  We will plan to deliver food to homes on Wednesday of this week with delivery each day thereafter through the 24th.  There will be no food service during the Thanksgiving Holiday from the 25th through the 27th.  Families who are already in Virtual learning will still pick up food at the high school on Monday’s from 9:00 to 9:30 AM.  The cafeteria will continue to use the list previously used during the last time we were in Virtual Learning.  If you would like to make sure you are on the list, then please call the Jr. Sr. High office.

Finally, I can’t stress enough how important it is for students to stay home if they develop any symptoms, or if they come in close contact with a know positive person.  If students come to school with symptoms, then it will be extremely hard to keep the spread low.  This will lead to more shifts to Stage 3.  Please wear a mask in public and social distance.  Let’s try to keep each other safe and stay in school!
Stay safe,
Mitchell D. Mawhorter
