LAKEVILLE, IN. – LaVille Athletics would like to take this opportunity to take an “UP CLOSE” look at our high school head coaches.
We continue our series with LaVille Girls Basketball Coach Daniel Pleninger.
Coach Pleninger said:
I graduated from Liberty Christian High School in Anderson, IN where I played soccer and basketball for four years.
I then went on to Bethel College (now Bethel University) where I played soccer as a goalie. While there I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Science Education concentrating in Life Science. I am currently earning a Master’s of Science in Biology and a Graduate Certificate in Genomics, Health, and Public Policy from Indiana State University. I currently teach Earth and Space Science, Integrated Chemistry and Physics and 8th Grade Science.
I have just finished my first year as the Girls’ head basketball coach and third year as the Girls’ head soccer coach.
The biggest benefit I find coaching is seeing the growth in the players and watching them be successful after working hard in practice. The players learn a lot each year about how to handle stress, adversity, and how to trust other people and being able to be a part of that is the biggest benefit for me.
One interesting thing about me is that I love Putt Putt and during the summer I play in weekly tournaments at the course on Grape Road in Mishawaka.
