Boys Varsity Basketball · Lancer Athletics: Up Close

LAKEVILLE, IN. – LaVille Athletics would like to take this opportunity to take an “UP CLOSE” look at our high school head coaches.  We continue our series with LaVille Head Basketball Coach Michael Edison.

Coach Edison said:

I graduated from Plymouth High School in 1995.  Where I played tennis, basketball, and baseball. I then went on to play guard at Bethel College (now known as Bethel University).

I earned my degree in social studies education.
I also have my masters in education from Indiana Wesleyan University.

I currently am the assistant principal at LaVille Jr.-Sr. High School.

This is my 12th year as head basketball coach at LaVille.

I love working with young men trying to help them improve in basketball from both an individual and team perspective.  If I can impart some life skills along the way then it makes my job so much more rewarding.  The guys also keep me feeling young and keep my competitive juices flowing.

I have also coached:

Tennis – 1 year at Concord High School
JV Basketball – 1 year at Concord High School
Assistant Basketball – 8 years at Plymouth High School

Interesting fact:
I am 6-foot-2 and people generally have a wingspan the same as their height. My wingspan is a little over 6’5”.  This has served me well over the years especially on the basketball court where it was the main reason why I was able to steal the ball from Jimmy Fischer before practice everyday.
