HAMLET, IN. – The girls basketball team will hit the road for a non-conference game at Class 1A #6-ranked Oregon-Davis.
This game will be a varsity only contest and will tip at 6:30 p.m. eastern time.
LaVille is coming off a 46-13 loss at Bremen on November 12. The Lancers struggled shooting from the floor and were held to a season low in points.
“I don’t have much to say about the Bremen game, we did not execute our game plan,” said LaVille coach Daniel Pleninger. “We still need to work on being resilient as we weren’t able to recover during that first quarter. I thought Kylie Gorka and Rebekah Beehler both had good games off the bench.”
Oregon-Davis plays an 84-feet game for 24 minutes. The Bobcats are coming off an 82-43 victory against Elkhart Christian Academy on November 12.
“We expect to see full court man and zone all game,” said Pleninger of the Bobcats. “They are a very athletic team and do a good job running the floor. In the half court they play several different zone defenses and look to trap as much as possible. We have been putting an emphasis on defense and our press break this week at practice and we will try out some variations on offense to attack the zone more effectively.”
The two squads met twice in 2018-19. The Bobcats won at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium both times – 74-30 on November 9 during its regular season game. Mercedes Rhodes led all scorers with 28 points, while Jaden Worthington had 12, and Sydney Williams 11 to pace OD. Trynitie Cox led the Lancers with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Kassi Watts chipped in with six points.
In round two, OD picked up a 65-32 semifinal round victory during the 54th TCU Bi-County Basketball Tournament. Rhodes led all scorers with 31 points, while Reece Danford added 13 points to lead the Bobcats. Trynitie Cox and Kelsey Aschenbrenner led LaVille with 10 points each.
Once again, this is a varsity only game and will tip at 6:30 p.m. eastern time.
