Gring has coached volleyball for the past 25 years, including a three-year stint at John Adams High School in South Bend.

“My love of volleyball began at LaVille High School and some of my most fond and enduring memories are from that time,” said Gring.  “Having the opportunity to coach for my alma mater is exciting and a bit like “coming home”, which is such a nice feeling!

“It’s extremely satisfying to watch young players become engaged and enthusiastic for the sport and to watch their skills develop and improve over the years,” continued Gring.  “My strongest desire lies in wanting student athletes to realize their fullest potential and to honestly enjoy their volleyball experience at every level.

Gring also shared her philosophy and expectations.

“Players should be ready to demonstrate a complete commitment to our team on and off the court and my expectations for each player is simple:

*Show up! Want to play and be willing and ready to make a difference.

*Make a lasting commitment to hard work and excellence.

*A positive attitude can change almost any situation for the better. Never be without it!

*Inspire your teammates through your devotion and dedication.

*Be enthusiastic and confident in your desire to leave behind the gift of a season well played.

“As their coach, I vow to do the same,” concluded the new skipper.

According to Gring, the May 22 meeting will include dinner and discussion from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
