KNOX, IN. – The Class 2A #3 LaVille High School boy’s basketball team returns to the hardwood for Hoosier North Athletic Conference action Friday at Knox.
The game is part of a varsity girl-boy doubleheader. The varsity girls play at 6:30 p.m., with the varsity boys to follow.
The LaVille-Knox boy’s series has been close the last two years. LaVille won by two points in 2018, while Knox won an overtime affair just two years ago.
“Knox is a very well coached team and has had the HNAC Most Valuable Player the last couple of years,” said LaVille coach Michael Edison. “Their gym has traditionally been a very tough place for us to play. It will be an extremely difficult game and we will have to play our best to compete with them.
“Knox will be physical, quick to the ball, will box out well, and have traditionally not beaten themselves with unforced turnovers,” continued Edison. “They are very disciplined and do the little things that help the team win games.”
According to Edison, Knox’s best player is undoubtedly #14 Ean Coad. “He can shoot from practically anywhere on the court, he is extremely quick and can get to the basket, and he is a very savvy player. He makes them go,” says the LaVille skipper.
The Lancers are in the middle of a stretch of three Hoosier North Athletic Conference games. LaVille defeated a feisty North Judson-San Pierre squad, 68-60. Tonight it’s a battle at Knox and January 15 the Lancers play host to Culver Community.
“This as been a very good challenge for the Lancers with these 3 conference games in a row,” explained Edison. “We must be focused, know where # 14 is at all times, and we must not give them second and third opportunity.”
