LAKEVILLE, IN. – The Class 2A #3 LaVille Basketball team returns to Dale E. Cox Gymnasium following a few days off over Christmas. The Lancers return to Hoosier North Athletic Conference action against North Judson-San Pierre.
The JV will tip at 6:30 p.m., with the varsity to follow. Start times are eastern time.
LaVille is 9-1 overall and leads the HNAC with a 2-0 record. North Judson-San Pierre is 3-6 overall and 1-0 in loop play. Chuckie Wilcox and Cooper Hochstedler lead a Bluejay team that averages nearly 59 points per game.
“North Judson has several play makers and some good shooters from the perimeter,” said LaVille coach Michael Edison. “Chuckie Is a very good athlete, extremely quick, and can get to places that he wants to get on the floor. He has a nice shot and he is someone we definitely don’t want to get going offensively. Cooper is long and lanky and has a lot of range with his outside shooting.
“They will be a good test for us as we head back in the conference play,” continued Edison. “Last year when we played North Judson they were leading us at half time and we had trouble finishing them off. I expect them to be the same way this year, showing a lot of fight in their play.”
LaVille is coming off participation in the Park Tudor Shootout in Indianapolis. The Lancers dropped an emotion-filled battled against then-Class 2A #12 Indianapolis Howe before bouncing back with a solid defensive effort and victory over Hammond Clark.
“I liked the mentality of our player with not much rest time in between games,” said Edison following the Park Tudor Shootout. “They were mentally ready to go in the second game and it could have been easy and very normal to have a let down. It sure made for a more pleasant two hour bus ride with a win!”
According to Edison, LaVille returned to practice and, “We have had a good week of practice and are excited to get back on track with a game.”
