LAKEVILLE, IN. – The Class 1A LaVille Boy’s Soccer Sectional Championship match will be played Monday, October 8. Kick is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Newton Park as LaVille and Bremen battle for the trophy.
The two squads met earlier this year with the game ending in a 1-1 tie.
According to LaVille coach Justin Christy, this is a match the team has wanted since last year. Elkhart Christian Academy was the Class 1A sectional host in 2017 and the Lions came away with a 1-0 victory.
“This is the one the kids have been talking about all year long,” said Christy. “If there was a perfect scenario, for who we wanted to play in the championship, this is it. They look forward to this rivalry every year. We beat them last year in the regular season and they came back and beat us 1-0 in the championship last year. So we get an opportunity this year. We are excited.”
When asked what the keys to success to raise the IHSAA sectional trophy, Christy responded: “Effort. The kids know they can win. We tied them earlier in the year. They had opportunities and so did we. It could have gone either way. We can play with anyone. We’ve got to have effort from minute one, we got to go out and talk and want it.”
The winner of the LaVille-Bremen match will get Boone Grove (16-2-1) in the 12 p.m. regional semifinal at Argos on Saturday, October 13.
