HAMLET, IN. – Shelfie Zeiger scored a career-high 26 points and hauled in 11 rebounds to lead LaVille to a 67-59 upset victory over Class 1A, No.5-ranked Oregon-Davis.
Zeiger scored nine points in the first quarter as the Lancers took a 20-11 lead. The 5-foot-9 junior scored in every quarter, including both overtime periods, finishing regulation with 21 points and added five more in the extra sessions.
Trailing 50-48 in the fourth period, Zeiger took a pass, drove from mid-court to the basket to tie game in the final second, sending the game to overtime.
Seniors Aryn Eash and Lindsey Aschenbrenner added 16 points each. Eash hit on 14-of-16 from the free throw line, including 4-of-6 to ice the game in the second overtime session.
Eash added eight rebounds, while Kelsey Aschenbrenner added six boards.
Zeiger chipped in with four steals and three assists.
With the victory, LaVille (3-1) snaps a 11-game losing streak to Oregon-Davis and is the first win against Bobcats since 1998.
LaVille will travel to Washington Township Tuesday Nov.14. The JV game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm Eastern. The varsity will follow.
Oregon-Davis (0-1) will play host to Class 4A, No.11-ranked Northridge Saturday.
