LAKEVILLE, IN. – It’s a football night in Lakeville!
Tonight, the Class 1A, No.1-ranked Pioneer Panthers visit Lancer Field for the home-opener. The Panthers bring with them a defense that has not allowed a point through the first two weeks of the season, along with Division 1 recruit Jack Kiser.
Kiser, who plays quarterback and defensive back, is the heartbeat of Pioneer football He’s quick and difficult for one tackler to bring down. Kiser is 12-of-17 passing, good for 223 yards and three touchdown passes so far this season. He has not thrown an interception. Kiser also leads the rushing attack – 25 carries, 207 yards and four TDs. Austin Mersch is the second-leading rusher – 26 carries, 153 yards.
The Lancers trail this short series, 2-0, but are eager to knock off the Class 1A state runner-up from a year ago. Pioneer defeated LaVille, 42-14, on Sept. 23, 2016, in Royal Center.
Kolby Watts rushed 18 times for 100 yards and a touchdown last week against Triton. Watts also returned a kick-off 85 yards for a touchdown.
Kick-off is set for 7:30 pm, gates open at 6:30 pm.
It’s great football weather!
The student theme is Neon for tonight’s game.
Come on out and join the electricity and cheer on the Lancers!
Go Big Blue!
