Rochester High School
LaVille High School
The LaVille Boys Soccer team won 3-1 in their home opener at Newton Park Tuesday night. New addition to the team, Jorge Esguerra caught fire early for the Lancers and stayed hot the entire game. Jorge scored in the 17th minute of the first half. He then scored again early in the second half to add insurance. Jake Anders sent a cross in to the box, in the 55th minute which was headed in by Jorge to complete the hat trick.
The LaVille’s defense, led by Kirby Watts and Auston Stanley-Horvath gave up a minimal amount of shots. Although shots were limited, Rochester did have some good looks which were saved by Junior goal keeper Rilye Cox. Rochester’s only goal came on a transition play which caught LaVille out of position. That made the game 3-1 midway through the second half. However, the Lancer’s proved to be too much for the Zebras. Putting an end to Rochester’s fast start. Rochester is now 3-1 and LaVille improves to 2-0 and will face a tough opponent in the Argos Dragons Tuesday, August 29th.
LaVille’s next game against Argos has been changed to 7:00pm and will be at Argos.
