CROWN POINT, IN. – Four LaVille wrestlers will participate in the IHSAA Crown Point Regional Saturday beginning at 10 am Eastern.
Sophomore Dawson Leed will participate in the 120-pound weight class.
“This is the first time I’ve been to regionals,” said Leed. “I’m a little nervous, but excited.”
Leed will start Saturday’s competition with a 25-8 record and faces Alex Bautista of Hanover Central, 29-3.
Sophomore Nick Felke will wrestle in the 126-pound division Saturday.
“I’m going in pretty confident,” said Felke. “This is the second year that I have to face the last-seeded wrester in my class, so I kinda of know what to expect. I feel pretty good.”
Felke will enter the regional round with a 32-3 mark and faces Gavin Larsen of Hanover Central, who comes in at 28-7 record.
Senior Anthony Felke is entered in the 145-pound event.
“Confidence is key, said the elder Felke. “I feel like I’m going to move on (in the state tournament) and all I have is hope.”
Felke enters the next level at 31-4 overall, and will meet Evan Momciliovich of Hanover Central, who comes in at 28-9.
Sophomore Alex Cartwright is set to participate in the heavy weight division.
“I’m feeling confident,” said Cartwright. “I just have to go in and not doubt myself and I should come away with a “W.”
Cartwright takes a 31-1 effort into his match against Noah Pitrowski from Lowell, who is 16-13.
