LAKEVILLE, IN. – Time for the second season!
The varsity wrestling team finished the regular season with a 25-5 mark and are gearing up for the IHSAA State Tournament.
The Lancers hit the road to the LaPorte Sectional, where Chesterton, Glenn, Knox, Michigan City, New Prairie, North Judson join the host Slicers on Saturday January 30 at 10 am Eastern Time.
“We’ve got 12 wrestlers entered out of 14 weight classes and 10 of those are seeded fourth or better,” said 24th year head coach Mike Bottorff. “Top four wrestlers in each weight class move on.
“The regular season exceeded my expectations,” he continued. “I knew the juniors and seniors would be fine. The younger kids really came through.”
The top sectional seed went to Bryant Hunsberger, 152 pound weight class, and Alex Steinke, heavyweight division. No.2 seeds are Rylan Martin (182) and Corrian Correl (195).
“I’m really hoping we can get eight through to the regional.” Bottorff concluded.
