LaVille Out Slugged by Fairfield 21-14
The Varsity Baseball Team held a comfortable seven-run lead in the fifth inning, but a big comeback by Fairfield ended LaVille’s hopes in a 21-14 loss Saturday at LaVille.
Josh Troxel got the win for Fairfield. He allowed two runs over two and one-third of an inning. Josh Troxel struck out none, walked three and gave up no hits.
Adam Steinke was charged with the loss. He walked three and struck out three.
The Lancers jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the bottom of the first. A double by Ryan Bettcher, scoring Steinke started the inning off. More runs came home for LaVille when Felke scored on a walk by David King, Bettcher scored on a fielder’s choice, Bustamante scored on a walk by Cameron McDaniel, King scored on a walk by Braxton Sauer, McDaniel scored when Steinke was hit by a pitch, Sauer scored on a walk by Anthony Felke, and Ross scored on a walk by Bettcher.
The Lancers also scored two runs in the third with Bustamante and Bettcher both collecting RBIs.
The Lancers also plated 2 additional runs in the fifth when Bustamante hit a 2 run bases loaded single.
LaVille’s record now stands at 1-2. They will play Argos this coming Monday.
