Varsity Softball can’t capture shootout, loses 19-8 to North Judson
The LaVille Varsity softball team fell 19-8 to North Judson in five innings on Tuesday at LaVille despite racking up two hits and eight runs.
Savanna Urbanski racked up two RBIs on one hit for LaVille Lancers Varsity. She singled in the third inning.
Anette Newcomer recorded the win for North Judson. She allowed three runs over 4 2/3 innings. She struck out seven, walked 10 and surrendered no hits.
Celeste Feitz took the loss for LaVille. She allowed eight runs in one inning, walked six and struck out none.
North Judson went up for good in the first, scoring five runs on a two-run error.
North Judson built upon its lead with 10 runs in the second. A clutch wild pitch scored Jessica Williams to open the scoring in the frame.
Five runs in the bottom of the third helped LaVille close its deficit to 19-7. An RBI single by Mya Thornton, a two-run single by Urbanski, a wild pitch, and a steal of home by Urbanski triggered LaVille’s comeback. Newcomer ended the inning by getting Kendra Borton to ground out.
After pushing across one run in the bottom of the fifth, LaVille Lancers Varsity faced just a 19-8 deficit. An error gave LaVille Lancers Varsity life. North Judson’s Newcomer induced a Alexis Hamilton strike out to close things out.
