Never give up… Never EVER give up. Find a way to get it done. With things looking bleak at the end of the game, the Lancers scrapped and willed their way to a victory against Triton this past Saturday Night in a key NSC match-up. They did so by doing the little things – rebounding, hitting free throws – everyone playing their role. Blake Berger’s storybook season continued to unfold as he hit the first of 2 free throws to pull the Lancers deficit to 2 points with a mere 2 seconds on the clock. He missed the second free throw on purpose, gathered his own rebound, hit a baseline jumper as time expired while getting hammered by a Triton player to tie the contest. Then, with no time on the clock, he calmly knocked down the game winning free throw to lead the Lancers to a heart-stopping victory over Triton.
Berger scored 18 of his game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter as LaVille improved to 15 – 3 overall (4 – 1 in NSC).
It was the Lancers eighth consecutive victory and 10th of the last 11th games.
The LaVille victory also forces a four-way tie atop the NSC standings with Jimtown, John Glenn, and Triton.
